Goose is a general purpose AI agent that runs entirely on your local machine. It can write, debug, and deploy code autonomously, but its capabilities extend beyond coding to research, writing, automation, and data analysis. Goose offers a desktop app (macOS, Linux, Windows), a CLI, and an API, all built in Rust for performance. It connects to 70+ extensions via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including databases, APIs, browsers, GitHub, and Google Drive. Users can also capture workflows as portable YAML recipes, spawn independent subagents for parallel tasks, and render interactive UIs inside the desktop app via MCP Apps. Security features include prompt injection detection, tool permission controls, sandbox mode, and an adversary reviewer.
