Helion is developing fusion energy technology to generate clean, safe, scalable electricity. The company uses magnets to accelerate particles toward each other, causing them to merge and release energy, which is then converted into usable electricity. Helion is building two key machines: Polaris, which demonstrates electricity from fusion, and Orion, which aims to be the world's first fusion power plant. The company has raised $465 million in a Series G round led by Thrive Capital at a $15.5 billion post money valuation, and it has awarded $4 million to 20 research institutions through its HERCULES program to accelerate scaled fusion deployment.
