Mail Memories is a desktop application that scans your entire Gmail history to find every photo attachment you've ever received or sent. It downloads those photos to your computer, organizing them into folders by year (e.g., 2004, 2005, 2006). The app runs 100% locally on your machine, connecting directly to Google's servers via a single purpose access code. It is read only and does not modify or delete any emails. The initial scan and download of your oldest 50 photos are free; a one time payment of $29 unlocks unlimited downloads for one Gmail account.
